The white of the truck coming toward us flashes while Hubs stomps on the brakes to save us from collision. Thank goodness for good brakes and an empty parking lot next to the road.

In the small dark hours, they curl up against me, one on my feet, the other at my shoulder. I turn to breathe in his calm, his contentment, and probably at least a few cat hairs.

Dear You,

It's time to write this down. I know you've heard it all before. I know much of it is probably already written somewhere. I'm just putting it here so it exists in one more place. I hope it helps.

Of Love and Loss

There's no need to go into details here. You've seen the coverage on your favorite news and/or social media site. We all know what happened. We just don't know why.

As much as I wish I could, I'm not going to solve it here. It's a complex combination of things that I just don't understand.

I am concerned about a few specific things, aside from the obvious concern for everyone directly affected by this tragedy, all of whom are in my heart and my thoughts.
